Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is our number one cause of morbidity and mortality in the UK and globally, yet 90% of all CVD is preventable through improved lifestyle choices, particularly nutrition. We will cover the particular role of cholesterol in driving our risk, what lowers and raises cholesterol and how our diets affect our risk at every stage of disease.

About the speaker

Dr Sundhya Raman is the founder and director of My Wellness Doctor, a Lifestyle Medicine consultancy. With degrees in Pharmacology, Physiology & Medicine from London, and a PhD in Genetics & Epigenetics from Oxford, she is also a qualified Lifestyle Medicine physician.

Dr Raman has extensive clinical and research experience, including work in cancer genetics at Yale and Alzheimer’s research in London. She is the Lifestyle Medicine lead at the Primary Care Cardiovascular Society and has developed a cholesterol-lowering programme. Her expertise is featured in national media, and she regularly speaks on lifestyle medicine and healthy aging.
