This webinar will discuss the benefits of eating a predominantly plant-based diet for those living with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Approximately 1/3 of adults are living with NAFLD. This silent disease epidemic is quickly becoming the most common cause of chronic liver disease in both children and adults across the globe, and is leading to serious complications such as end stage liver disease and liver cancer.

About the speaker

Dr. Meagan Gray is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Gray graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Engineering from Duke University followed by her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Louisville. She subsequently completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina followed by fellowships in both Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at the University of Cincinnati. She joined faculty at UAB in 2018 after which she additionally completed her Board certification in Obesity Medicine. Dr. Gray founded and directs the Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Program at UAB which provides patients with evidence-based clinical care in addition to obesity management and the latest research opportunities. She is also passionate about plant based nutrition and improving health disparities in NAFLD and liver care.
