with Naveed Sattar, Professor of Cardiometabolic Medicine

Hosted by Rohini Bajekal, Nutritionist & Board Member of Plant-Based Health Professionals UK
(CPD Accredited by the CPD Certification Service for 1 CPD hour and CME accredited for the LM MOC)

Participants will understand how obesity is the major cause of diabetes but how this link differs dependent on age, sex, and ethnicity with different thresholds. They will also learn how we track risks in clinical practice and try to reduce such risks.

The talk will also explain how we now realise that excess weight is linked to several diabetes complications.

What will I learn from this webinar?

  • Identify links between weight and diabetes onset
  • Understand how different characteristics mean different weight thresholds lead to diabetes
  • Gain an understanding of the links of excess weight and its aggregated exposure to heart failure, liver and kidney risks in diabetes
