Cooking for the climate – Halloween cookalong

Join Plant Based Health Professional, Dr Hayley Tait, GP, Author and Chef to make a scarily scrumptious soup and perfectly petrifying pizza on ZOOM, Monday November 1st 2021, 7pm- 8.30pm.

Learn how to cook delicious, familiar foods that are healthy and climate smart and enjoy designing the scariest pizza topping.

Arrive on the zoom link ready to start cooking, or just watch and listen in and vote on your favourite design.

Tools: Chopping board, knife, 2 pans, cup, bowl, spoons, masher, blender optional.

Ingredients:

Sludge Soup:

2 tins of Black beans or soak overnight and precook.

1 leek or onion

1 large carrot

2 sticks celery

1 small pumpkin or butternut squash

1 tablespoon tomato puree

2 vegetable stock cubes

4 cloves garlic

2 fresh red chillies or teaspoon chilli powder

2 tablespoons fresh coriander

 

Petrifying Pizza:

300g strong wholemeal flour

½ teaspoon salt

7g dried yeast

1.5 tablespoon oil

175ml warm water

1 stick of celery

1 onion

1 carrot

2 cloves garlic

1 tin tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried oregano, Italian or mixed herbs

1 dessert spoon tomato puree

1-2 cups plant milk

½ cup cashews or 1 cup butternut squash

1 tablespoon nutritional yeast

1-2 teaspoons cornflour

1 teaspoon mustard (optional)

Salt n pepper

Sweetcorn

Olives

Jalapenos

Peppers

Mushrooms

Any other veg or fruit of your choice
