About the speaker

Dr Minil Patel is an NHS GP. He graduated from King’s College London with an MBBS and BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience in 2016. He has since worked across multiple roles including general medicine, paediatrics, endocrinology, trauma and orthopaedics, emergency medicine, and geriatric medicine.

Minil has been vegan for ethical reasons since 2017 and since then has developed an interest in plant-based nutrition as well as lifestyle medicine in the treatment and prevention of chronic disease. He has completed the “Plant-Based Nutrition” course at Winchester University and has a PGCert in Medical Education from King’s College London. He is also an active member of Plant Based Health Professionals UK and featured in the documentary “I Could Never Go Vegan.”

Minil has a background in powerlifting and bodybuilding and has been featured on Men’s Health Online and interviewed on multiple podcasts discussing plant-based fitness. He is passionate about teaching others about plant-based nutrition, fitness and veganism using social media as well as presenting at public events and spoke at VegMed 2023.

Participants will be given an insight into what constitutes effective resistance training and how to implement resistance exercise in their own lives as well as their patients’ lives. The presentation will also briefly touch on optimising nutrition to complement resistance exercise.
