Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder worldwide, affecting at least 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth (AFAB). It is the number one cause of infertility with symptoms including acne, excess weight gain, irregular periods and hair loss. Alarmingly, 3 in 4 of those with PCOS remain undiagnosed because of the complex nature of the condition. This presentation will discuss the evidence for proven lifestyle approaches alongside western medicine, with a focus on the role of plant-based nutrition in managing PCOS.

About the speakers

Dr Nitu Bajekal MD FRCOG Dip IBLM is a Senior NHS Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based in London, with over 35 years’ clinical experience. Her special interests include Lifestyle Medicine, PCOS, Endometriosis, period problems, menopause, precancer, complex vulval problems and medical education. Dr Bajekal is a Board-Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician and wrote the women’s health module for the UK’s only University-based CPD-accredited course on plant-based nutrition for healthcare professionals.

Rohini Bajekal MA Oxon MSc Nutrition Dip IBLM is a Nutritionist and Board-Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional based in London. She has personal experience of living with PCOS.

Nitu and Rohini are the co-authors of “Living PCOS Free,” published on 28th April 2022. This practical guide shows readers how to successfully manage their condition using proven lifestyle approaches alongside western medicine.
