IBLM Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physicians

To certify as a Lifestyle Medicine Physician you must be:

UK – a qualified doctor holding the MBBS degree

Europe – hold a recognised medical degree

IBLM Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professionals

To certify as a Lifestyle Medicine Professional, you must hold a Masters or Doctorate degree in a health or allied health discipline.

The prerequisites for the physician level are:

Relevant medical degree (as above) and current license to practice.

30 hours of online/non-live CME from an approved course (LMBRC strongly recommended)

20 hours of live CME from approved events (UK CME package provided at no extra cost)

IBLM Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professionals

To certify as a Lifestyle Medicine Professional, you must hold a Masters or Doctorate degree in a health or allied health discipline.

Proof of your professional credentials and Masters/Doctorate degree in a health-related discipline

30 hours of online/non-live CME from an approved course

20 hours of live in-person/online CME from approved events

With a background in anaesthesia, Dr. Kumar brings a unique perspective to his practice. He holds a medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Belgaum, India, and memberships from prestigious organizations such as the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK), the College of Anaesthetists (Dublin, Ireland), and the Royal Society of Arts. He is a certified Precision Nutrition Coach from the PN Academy in Canada and a Diplomate of the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine (USA).

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Kumar is committed to education and advocacy. He served as a first ever Lead Tutor for IBLM Exam at the esteemed British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, where he mentored and guided aspiring lifestyle medicine practitioners. He is currently an Exam contributor at IBLM. He is Lead on Special Interest Group on Prehabilitation. His expertise is highly sought after, as he has provided advisory support for professional standards in the UKIHCA and currently acts as an Honorary Ambassador for the Personalised Care Institute. Dr. Kumar also holds the esteemed position of Vice Chair for Health and Wellbeing Forum at the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO). He also serves as an official instructor for Health & Wellbeing workshops at NHS England (North West), facilitating sessions for doctors.

After starting out as a nurse and then raising her family, Claire undertook a career change and qualified as a dietitian. She has worked within the NHS as a community dietitian and a diabetes specialist dietitian. Claire is also a Board-Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional.

As a freelance dietitian and founder of plant:life nutrition, Claire is helping people to transform their lives through positive diet and lifestyle changes, and particularly through the power of a whole food plant-based diet. She especially enjoys helping people in mid-life to optimise their health and happiness, whether needing support with managing a chronic disease, coping with menopause, or simply taking better control of their health and fitness goals.

In her role as education lead for Plant-Based Health Professionals UK she is able to reach a wider public, and their health professionals, and is passionate about offering education and advocacy as we move towards embedding whole food plant-based nutrition into healthcare curricula and clinical practice within the UK.

For the best preparation for the exam we strongly recommend the ACLM Foundations of Lifestyle Medicine Board Review Course 4th Edition. Note only the non-CME version is needed. This is available at $499 (~£390) for non-members of ACLM. (ACLM member price $374.25 ~ £292)

Rules:

CMEs must be no older than 36 months from the date of the exam.

Proof of CMEs, credentials and case study must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the certification exam.

CMEs from remaining approved events are exempt from the above 30-day rule.

The cost to certify is a one-time fee, dependent on your registration level and PBHP membership status. We encourage you to join PBHP UK as a member before registering, as this is a cheaper option, and you will also be able to support us and enjoy the member benefits.

Exam Logistics

Exam duration: Maximum 4 hours

Exam items/questions

  • 150 multiple choice questions for Lifestyle Medicine physicians
  • 120 multiple choice questions for Lifestyle Medicine professionals

Exam questions are written to NBME standards

Format: proctored exam held on 29th November 2024, from 12:30pm to 4:30pm GMT, at The Derby (in the Air Room), Derbyshire House, St Chad’s Street, London, WC1H 8AG using the Classmarker software.

Exam entrants will need to bring their own laptop and power cable. Power supply and excellent wifi will be readily available.
